Laying tiles on electric warm floors
Laying the flooring is one of the final stages of repair work. Specifically, there is no clear framework for the sequence in which the construction process should be carried out, and the laying of the floor will be the final stage or not. But, nevertheless, this moment is very important and responsible, especially if ceramic tiles are used as flooring. It is worth paying special attention if it is placed on an electric floor heating, a qualified specialist is required to do this work. Laying tiles on electric cable floor heating involves a number of important steps: 1) First, you need to use a special tile adhesive for floor heating, which would withstand temperatures of at least 50-60 degrees. Since the first time the heating element is turned on, the temperature on the thermostat is set to the maximum, and it can be 40-50 degrees. You need to be sure that the glue will withstand it.
2) Second, the floor sensor from the thermostat must be in the corrugation. Under the corrugation, the canvas is gouged, which is glued with glue so that the level of the heating cable is the same everywhere.
3) B- Thirdly, if a heating mat is used as a warm floor, many experts recommend to pre-tighten it with a thin layer of tile glue. This is done so that in the process of laying the tile, it does not accidentally damage the heating cable, otherwise the entire floor will fail. And only after complete drying, you can proceed to the next stage of work.
4 ) Before you start working with tiles, it is worth calculating where to start. If there is a drawing, then it is necessary to push away from it (it should be in the central part of the room), if the tile moves from one room to another, then there should be no transition and trimming of the tile in the area of the doorway. It is recommended to count in such a way that there is as little as possible trimming, and it is located in the most invisible places. 5) Glue with a comb of 7-8 mm should be applied on the work surface, as well as on the tile. If necessary, its inner side is wiped with a damp cloth in case of need to remove dust (otherwise there is a high probability that the tile can quickly move away due to the lack of proper adhesion). At the same time, you should always keep an eye on the floor level, removing excess glue if necessary, and also use crosses to keep the same distance between the tiles, which in turn have a different size.
6) After the glue dries, you can begin to seal the seams. For this, special putties are used, different color scales. If this is a production room and beauty is not so important, or there is a limitation in finances, the same tile adhesive can be used as a putty. All seams are preliminarily cleaned of dust using a knife; if necessary, an industrial vacuum cleaner is used. Glue is applied using a special flexible (rubber) spatula. After 10-20 minutes (depending on the air temperature in the room), all the excess is wiped off with a damp sponge (cloth). After that, it is forbidden to walk on the tile until the seams are completely dry for at least a couple of hours.
Another important point is that under no circumstances can you turn on warm floors until full drying tile glue. If during tile laying, the roughing screed was completely dry, then the floor heating system can be put into operation no earlier than in 14-16 days. If before this the screed was insulated and flooded, then the drying time is increased to one month. When you turn on the warm floor earlier specified time, in most cases, the tile can move away from the base.
