Lulu App Lets Only Women Rate Exes
Meet Lulu, The App That Lets You Review Your Exes For The Whole World To See
An app called Lulu has just arrived in the UK and it's getting very mixed reviews...
Ever start dating someone new and wonder if they’re secretly insane? Well, wonder no more because an app called Lulu has just launched in the UK where women can anonymously review their exes for the whole world to see.
Lulu is linked to your Facebook profile and you can post pictures of the guys in your friends list, review them and take a multiple choice quiz to give them a score out of 10. Women can even assign them hashtags of their best and worst traits, such as #BelievesInLove and #GoneByMorning. Ouch.
Understandably, response to the app has been incredibly mixed, with some people saying it’s making dating safer for women, while others are labelling it unbelievably sexist and an invasion of privacy. A man in Brazil is currently suing the app for being lumped with hashtags including ‘#Doesn’tCallTheNextDay’, ‘#ShouldComeWithAWarning’ and ‘#CheaperThanBreadandButter’ and critics have said it’s nothing more than a humiliation app.
Men can personally remove themselves and any reviews from the app, but of course that’s only if they actually know that their Lulu profile exists. On the other hand, guys can sign up too if they’re feeling brave enough to get personalised feedback from women, and so far over a million men have done so.
Lulu founder Alexandra Chong says, ‘Imagine you’re sitting around a table with your girlfriends. The conversation flows from recent dates to career moves and dermatologist recommendations. It’s honest, it’s open, and it’s girls-only… We created Lulu to bring those private conversations among women online and to unleash the value of girl talk.’
Speaking to The Telegraph, Chong defended the app, saying, ‘We want more balance in the tech world and most of the dating apps are made by guys.
