Ultimate Style Guide: 3 Outfits To Wear To A Spring Wedding
We’re not sure about you, but when we open our mailboxes and find an invitation to a summer wedding, our thoughts immediately turn to easy-breezy dresses, cute sandals and quick-fix ways to refresh that seasonal tan. On the other hand, winter weddings lend themselves to glamorous silk gowns, heavy brocade dresses and maybe even a piece of fur for good measure.
That said, it’s actuallyspringweddings that give us the most pause. Yes, the weather’s getting warmer and the nights are staying lighter longer, but it’s notquitehot enough to show up to an affair in a tropical-print sundress, yet being bogged down in heavy fabrics looks decidedly unseasonable.
It’s a fine line to tread, but spring weddings call for dresses in lighter fabrics and colors, especially in the case of an evening gown (i.e., ditch the heavy velvet or dark colors), that aren’t too airy and breezy. For a cocktail-style wedding, a classic black dress is all-purpose, but for spring, try adding a colorful pair of sandals. For a daytime wedding, reach for a chic shealth and a fun pop-of-color lip.
In terms of smaller details, we’re going to go for it and say skip the tights. Instead—since wearecoming off winter—make sure your legs are properly exfoliated moisturized. While it’s still not warm enough to go without a coat, we’d suggest leaving the heavy winter jacket or fur wrap at home and opting for a lightweight overcoat, classic trench, or even a cropped leather moto jacket (just remember to take it off once you get to your final destination.)

Invite calls for: Cocktail attire
A classic black dress fits the bill for a cocktail-style wedding. A touch of peplum adds some on-trend flair, while the slightly above-the-knee hemline keeps things chic.

Adding a unique pair of sandals—we're loving this pair's ethnic print and thick heel—keeps a cocktail dress from looking too formal.

Invite calls for: Semi-Formal Daytime
For a daytime wedding, opting for a stylish shift, sheath or wrap dress works well. Since it's spring, prints are fab as long as they're not too loud (ahem, crazy animal prints).

Opt for a chic minimalist sandal with a walkable heel—remember, you have to get to the wedding when the sun's still shining.

For a daytime wedding—especially if you opt for a print dress—we'd keep the accessories to a minimum and add a swipe of spring-ready coral-orange lipstick.
