What is drainage?

The concept of "drainage" can be deciphered in one sentence. This is the removal of unwanted fluid from the surface. The main areas where drainage is applied: crop production, construction, aviation and medicine. Consider what drainage is in different industries.

The use of drainage in crop production

With the help of drainage it is possible to divert excess water. Materials that are used as drainage, have protective properties against mold, debate and decay. Most often it is expanded clay, charcoal, eggshell, foam or pebbles. Drainage is poured to the bottom of the tank or pit for the rhizome of a plant with a small layer, and the size of each fraction of expanded clay, rubble or pieces of foam should not exceed 40-50 mm in diameter, and it would not be quite small, at least 5-10 mm.

The use of drainage in construction

In the construction of various residential or non-residential buildings, other structures of general importance to the selected site for construction requires the removal of groundwater. For this purpose, drainage systems are constructed using various pipes, channels or wells.

It is in construction that the use of drainage has several ways and differs by the type of installation: layer, wall or ring, as well as its constructiveness:

  • drainage of dams or bridges.

Drainage in medicine

The process of outflow of liquid or purulent contents from the patient's wound cavity is called drainage. This is most often used drainage in the form of gauze or rubber strips, special tubes.
